“I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me” (v2). The “storms of destruction” (v1) made it seem like the psalmist’s plans, his dreams for the future, were falling apart. He was attacked by his enemies, the “lions,” the “fiery beasts” who used words like “sharp swords” to wound him (v4). Yet he trusted that God’s plans for him and through him would be fulfilled; no evil power can thwart God’s good purposes.
We can be steadfast (v7), unshakeable in faith and hope, because our hearts are anchored in the love and power of God (v10). His good purposes cannot fail.
