“Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you" (v21). Jesus had died and rose again, accomplishing salvation for the world, and yet his story was not over. Jesus breathed on the disciples as the Creator breathed on Adam and Eve, giving them new life by his Spirit and charging them with the task to be his image-bearers, proclaiming his good news in the world.
“That by believing you may have life in his name” (v31). As people who have received salvation and new life, Jesus sends us out into the world filled with his Spirit and bearing his name.
