“And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them” (v29-30). Jesus taught that God is a loving Father. If He takes care of birds and flowers, we can trust that He will take care of us. Our anxiety does nothing productive (v25); instead, as beloved children secure in our Father’s care, we are to “seek His kingdom” (v31).
Life can’t be reduced to food, clothing, and necessities (v23). Our lives have much greater potential and significance as we make God’s kingdom our goal.
