“O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a house for your holy name comes from your hand and is all your own” (v16). In the days of building the Temple, King David and all Israel recognized that they were giving back to the generous God who owned everything. This released them from the anxiety of control so that they gave “freely and joyously” (v17). They worshipped God as infinite and good, and they saw themselves as dependent on Him.
“O Lord … keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of your people” (29:18). When we know who we are and who God is, everything is possible.
