Ezekiel 5-7

“Wherever you dwell, the cities shall be waste and the high places ruined, so that your altars will be waste and ruined, your idols broken and destroyed, your incense altars cut down, and your works wiped out” (6:6). Idolatry – the worship of anything other than the Creator – was one of the main reasons God allowed Israel to be conquered.  The Israelites’ lives were so bound up in things that did not honor God that when these things were destroyed, the Israelites themselves were broken.

God calls us to honor Him as our first love, main goal, and highest authority, so that  when the idols of the world are shaken (6:4), we will stand firm in Him.
