“The Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem” (8:3). In a vision, the prophet Ezekiel was taken to Jerusalem and shown what was happening in the Temple. The “elders of the house of Israel” were sitting in dark rooms, worshipping pictures of “loathsome beasts” (v9-12) and thinking that God couldn’t see them (v12); others were worshipping the sun (v16). They thought they were hidden, but the “whirling wheels” of the angel chariot took Ezekiel everywhere (ch 10). God saw and knew.
“Touch no one on whom is the mark” (9:6). God sees all evil, but He also sees and rejoices over every one who chooses His way.
