Job 27-28

"From where, then, does wisdom come? And where is the place of understanding?” (v20).  Humanity’s knowledge and skills are extensive, says Job.  We know that “iron is taken out of the earth, and copper is smelted from the ore” (28:2), we know how to find gold and sapphires (v6), and we know how to control water (v11). But with all our technical knowledge, we still don’t grasp the true worth of wisdom or know how to find it (v13).  We misuse our knowledge and hurt one another and ourselves.

“Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding" (28:28). Wisdom is trusting God enough to choose his ways above our own.
