“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!” (v1). God’s steadfast love never fails us. The psalmist had been overwhelmed and in distress numerous times: “I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the LORD helped me” (v13). His experience of God’s love drove out fear: “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” He did not depend on human leaders (v9), but on “my salvation” – the Lord (v21).
“I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the LORD” (v17). Not even death itself can separate us from God’s steadfast love.
