“The Lord GOD, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declares, "I will gather yet others to him besides those already gathered” (56:8). The Israelites, blindly trusting in their religious/cultural identity, had fallen into idolatry, and God declared that their self-righteousness wouldn’t save them (57:13,21). On the other hand, the “unclean” – the damaged, the foreigners (56:3) - would find their place in His temple and at His altar because of their humility (56:1-7). Instead of the name “outcast,” God would give them “a name better than sons and daughters” (56:5).
“For my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples" (56:7). Through Christ, the door to God’s house is wide open.
