Jeremiah 5-6

“For from the least to the greatest of them, everyone is greedy for unjust gain; and from prophet to priest, everyone deals falsely” (6:13).  Jeremiah prophesied about God’s coming judgment, and he warned the Israelites not to point the finger at a specific group; everyone had “stubborn and rebellious hearts” (5:23).  The poor and the rich (5:4-5) alike “refused to repent,” and the religious leaders charged with guiding people into God’s presence instead led everyone astray (5:31).
“O Lord, do not your eyes look for truth?” (5:3).  Human nature wants to blame others for our problems, but the truth makes us look at ourselves.  Through repentance, we receive forgiveness, restoration, and hope for change.
