“He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither” (1:3). The psalms tell us that when we delight ourselves in God and His ways, our lives overflow with true Life. The alternative is to fill our minds with “the counsel of the wicked” and produce nothing good (1:1-3). While rulers and societies might rage against God’s rule (Psalm 2), they are still the King’s inheritance (2:8), and His Word will prevail over them (2:12).
“In all that he does, he prospers” (1:3). God’s desire is to rescue us from self-destructive sin, to teach us His ways, and to lead us into abundant life.
