Matthew 18-19

“So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish” (18:14).  Since God is the Forgiver, we are to be people of forgiveness and reconciliation (18:15-22).  As forgiven people, we are obligated to extend forgiveness (18:33).  “Let the little children come to me,” Jesus said, calling us to imitate their humility (19:14).  In contrast, (19:13-30), the rich young ruler’s status and possessions were a barrier.

God offers us full forgiveness in Jesus.  We embrace his work in our lives by ready forgiveness of others and by surrendering our lives fully to him.  Specifically, this includes child-like humility and giving up whatever prevents us from following him.
