Matthew 6-8

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (6:21).  The kingdom Jesus preached and embodied was all about bringing God’s real presence into people’s lives.  Instead of fasting, praying, and giving to charity as a way to look good for others, Jesus told people to do it in secret, for the sake of God Himself.  Instead of worrying and working for earthly security and comfort, he urged people to live as citizens of God’s kingdom, for His glory and His purposes, not their own.

“Let it be done for you as you have believed” (8:13).  The more our hearts are invested in Jesus, the more we will see his active presence in our lives.
