“I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness” (v46). Jesus came to save the world (v47) by bringing light into our darkness. Those who hear His words of hope and salvation and choose to keep walking in sin condemn themselves by rejecting the eternal life He offers (v48-50). His will is that we won’t “remain in darkness” but instead, as we recognize God’s love for us, repent and be changed (v35-36).
“Believe in the light, that you may become sons of light" (v36). When we put our faith in Jesus, we become children of light, holy and accepted by the Father, ready to glorify Him.
