“You shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation” (v5-6). The beautiful promise of fellowship that God gave the Israelites was tempered by a warning: they could not approach the mountain when God’s presence was there, lest He “break out” against them. Therefore, limits were set around the smoking mountain, and only Moses and Aaron could go up (v23-24).
“You shall be my treasured possession” (v5). Our fellowship with God is no longer limited; because of Jesus, we are the “kingdom of priests” that have full access into the Father’s presence (I Peter 2:9).
