“Get wisdom, get insight … When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble” (v5,12). The proverbs teach us that wisdom, making choices that honor God, is the best way to navigate through the ups and downs of life. We can’t control everything that happens to us, but when we “look directly forward” toward God Himself, we will stay on the path that is secure (v25). When we pursue sinful desire, says proverbs, we blindly lead ourselves into disaster.
Honoring God above everything else gives us clear direction. “The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day” (v18).
