“For you meet him with rich blessings; you set a crown of fine gold upon his head” (v3). The kingship psalms exalt the One who is crowned by God Himself, the Messiah-King who conquered death and enjoys “length of days forever and ever” (v4). This King is the model for all earthly leaders because he trusts in God’s strength and salvation (v1); “through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved” (v7).
Our Messiah-King, Jesus, “made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant” for our sakes (Phil 2:7). He gave up his glory, his “splendor and majesty,” so that we can be saved.
