“The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue” (v17). The psalmist warned against putting our ultimate hope in anything or anyone except the Lord. Our Creator has infinite power - “For He spoke, and it came to be” (v9), and every other source of “salvation” will fail us (v10). When we submit our anxieties, our desires, and our treasure to Him, He guides us in the right way. His good counsel stands forever (v11).
