“Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me” (v1-2). Sooner or later, through random disaster or our own sinfulness, we all experience something that overwhelms us, and we cry out to God, “Let not the flood sweep over me” (v15). We can trust that God “hears the needy,” (v33), and He will be our answer and our refuge (v35).
“According to Your abundant mercy, turn to me” (v16). Even when we don’t deserve it, God is quick to hear us and to respond with kindness and powerful help.
