I Kings 6

"Concerning this house that you are building, if you will walk in my statutes and obey my rules and keep all my commandments and walk in them, then I will establish my word with you …” (v12).  The first Temple in Jerusalem was a dazzling structure built of stone which was covered with intricately carved cypress and cedar wood, topped with gold leaf.  The very best materials and craftsmen were used.  Yet it would only be made holy by God’s presence and the obedience of His people.

“And I will dwell among the children of Israel …” (v13).  God forgives us, renews us, and calls us to holiness because He wants to dwell among us.
