I Kings 5

“But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side. There is neither adversary nor misfortune.  And so I intend to build a house for the name of the LORD my God …” (v4-5).  Just as God had given the Israelites the Promised Land (provided that they trusted in Him), so God was now giving Israel the gift of the Temple through Solomon’s work.  Many people, Israelites and foreigners too, would contribute to the Temple, yet God was ultimately its builder.

“Blessed be the Lord this day …” (v7).  Every good gift is from God (James 1:17), and He graciously allows us to be co-workers with Him in the world.
