I Chronicles 20

“And there was again war with the Philistines, and Elhanan the son of Jair struck down Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver's beam” (v5).  While this chapter covers the same year as II Samuel 11, Chronicles does not mention David’s adultery.  Instead, we find the stories of Joab, Elhanan, Sibbecai, and David’s own brother Jonathan (v7) – mighty men who defended Israel against giants and enemies. David fell into temptation, but the kingdom went on.

“They fell … by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants” (v8). Rather than a one-man show, the God calls His people to work together, using our gifts for the benefit of the whole Body.
