II Corinthians 5:1-5

“It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you …Ought you not rather to mourn?” (v1-2). Paul was shocked that the believers in Corinth tolerated sexual immorality inside the church. They didn’t think it mattered that much; perhaps they believed Jesus’ forgiveness meant behavior was meaningless, or that it was a private issue. On the contrary, Paul urged, “Let him who has done this be removed from among you” (v2). A time of discipline would hopefully lead to true repentance (v5) and salvation.

“Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?” (v6). As Christ’s Body, we are interconnected, and our responsibility is to urge one another toward holiness.
