Isaiah 2

“And the idols shall utterly pass away” (v18). Isaiah saw a day when God’s house would be lifted high above all nations, and His rule would be established without question. Seeing God’s glory, “the haughty pride of man will be humbled” (v11); people will hide in caves and throw their idols to “the moles and to the bats” (v20-21). Suddenly they will understand how worthless all their treasures are, compared to God’s majesty and holiness. Isaiah warned Israel to give up their idols before that day of judgment.

“Come, let us walk in the light of the Lord” (v5). God calls us today to dethrone our idols – pleasure, wealth, achievements, and appearance – and walk in His light.
