“If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us?” (33:15-16). It was pointless to be known as “God’s people” and to attempt to enter the Promised Land without God’s presence. For the sake of the people, Moses asked, “If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you” (33:13). Knowing God was more important than reaching a destination.
“My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (33:14). True riches and security are found by walking in fellowship with the God who is “abounding in love and faithfulness” (34:6).
