“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him” (4:9). John says that it is essential to believe that Jesus the Son came “in the flesh” (4:1-3), truly taking on the human condition. This proves that God cares deeply for us, body and soul, and, therefore, as believers, we must care for one another. “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us” (4:12).

“God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them” (16). God’s love for us changes how we see and treat one another.
