“Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes” (7). The psalmist took his enemies’ threats seriously, and he knew the safest place of refuge was within the protection of God’s “great love.” His enemies, and the spiritual darkness behind them, wanted to destroy him (9) and bring him down (11). The psalmist saw that those whose reward was “in this life” rather than eternity (14) did not fear God at all.
“Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings” (8). Nothing visible or invisible can separate us from God’s love; we are safe in his hands (Romans 8).
