In our broken world, we often feel torn apart by the chaos of sin. Like a snake charmer who has lost control of his cobra (58:5) ... things have gone dangerously off the rails. Because of sin in the world and in our hearts, life itself seems against us (59:1-3). We need God to make things right... “surely there is a God who judges the earth” (58:11).

When we are overwhelmed by a sin-filled world, there is only one place we can find peace. It is when we acknowledge and sing of God’s strength and love, we are reminded that our lives are secure (59:16) because he is our “fortress... on whom we can rely” (59:17).
