“Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day” (v13). God has given us everything we need to “stand firm” – not against people, but against “spiritual forces of evil” that tempt us to divide and destroy the body of Christ (ch 3) or tempt us toward sexual immorality, corruption, and self-serving relationships (ch 5). As armor, we have God’s Word, the gospel, righteousness and faith that will “extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one” (v16).
“Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might” (v10). As we lean on God’s Word and listen to His Spirit, we have what we need to stand firm.
