The prophet is given an illustrated sermon (19:1) He is to take a clay wine jar outside the city and break it (v10) to show the impending consequences of their sin. God's people have embraced idolatry and all its disregard for life (v4-5). Their hearts are hardened like the clay flask.
Sin hardens us toward God and inevitably leads to our own destruction. Let us remain pliable and soft in the potter's hands. Quick to confess our sin and quick to respond in obedience.
